MessageAuthor

Hey guys, Just got my Project Mix this morning. Was so excited, got it all set up...installed it exactly the way M-Audio says to. Long story short....clicks, pops, CPU errors (which I never got before). I have been able to record, which was good...but didn't get to hear the audio clearly because the click/pop noise coming through my monitors. I run a dual G5 and it's obviously not my system, it's the console. Please M-Audio fix this!!! I"M CALLING YOU MONDAY!!! HELP ME GET THIS WORKED OUT! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! PJ

RE: ProjectMix I/O / driver version 1.7.1 *UPDATE

I am using a PCMCIA firewire 400 card to run my MAxtor external HD, so that it doesn't compete with the Firewire bus on my Powerbook g4. I have the PMix I/O plugged directly into the FW400 port on the computer. If you want to run an external firewire drive (on a PowerBook), I think the PCMCIA card is the way to go...I dont get any drop outs... andthat wasn't what my original post was about. Can ANYONE here recreate this: set control panel to external spdif sync, launch pro tools, work, save, close pro tools...and then immediately relaunch and have your PMix be recognized by pro tools, still slaving to external digital sync? I can't. M-Audio tech suppt. told me to reinstall the driver and repair permissions, GRRRRRR!!!!!!! I did that, it ISNT THE PROBLEM. It has something to do with those nebulous cracks and pops that happen when Pro Tools is closing, I am sure of it. -Matt

Recent development: Ableton Live 5.0.3 has no such problems. I can launch/relaunch freely, leaving the ProjectMix IO sync set to external the whole time, no crackles, no pops...it works as it should. That eliminates the hardware as being the culprit. This appears to narrow the problem down to DAE and Pro Tools 7.1.....hope that helps. I have an open tech support ticket with M-audio, but I thought I should at least keep this thread current in case anyone is having similar issues. -Matt

what is powercycling the projectmix? I get that same message that there are no m-audio devices connected. I havn't even bothered installing protools yet because my computer doesn't recognize the projectmix. Please, any information that I can get that will let my computer recognize the projectmix would be helpful. i'm running a iMac G5 10.4.5
