Burst of static when moving usb mouse?

Recently got a friends PC setup so he could record vocals, and everything seemed fine at first. Now, there a brutal burst of static anytime anything is done with the USB mouse. His interface is the MAudio Fast track, and I assume the static is caused by interference since both devices are plugged into onboard USB ports. Does anyone have experience with this issue? If I installed a PCI USB card and plugged the Fast Track into it, would that resolve the issue?

It would be worth a shot to check for an updated driver for the mouse IF there is one. I had a Logitech that caused very subtle, but audible "zipper" noises when using the scroll wheel. Downloading and installing a new driver fixed the issue for me. D

I've seen this on laptops before and it was due to bad grounding. Problem was resolved by using a 2-prong cord adapter that removes the ground plug (like this ). Regards, DB

Hint: try turning OFF hardware (graphics) acceleration, and see if it still happens.
