I'm trying to capture video from my analog camera. Doing it with composite only drops in insane amount of frames and makes the mpeg look really poor...can anyone help me out?

Have you tried capturing with a loss less codec? If not, give it a try. This will require lots of hd space though.

Make sure that your camera is displaying the rate you are capturing at, or the other way round. Camera is at 25 fps and so is vdub/iuvcr.... whatever. but try a codec like (on a relativly fast machine>xvid) to capture if you need a little more space than using Huffyuv (very greedy, a porcine encoder). I use XVID:- Quantizer: 1 Max frames before I-Frame (keyframe): 1 Min frames before I-Frame (keyframe): 1 It uses about 30-40% of cpu power on an AthlonXP 2000+ dar1us

A video codec, in AVI (here) that will not loose any noticable quality. They dont compress video that much so the resulting files can be huge, in the order of 30 gigs for an hours worth.
