Saving movie trailers from some sites.

MessageAuthor

Movie Trailers are promotional materials and can be downloaded from many sites to play at the viewer's convenience. That by itself should not be illegal. Some trailer-sites show trailers in a window that does not have any buttons for saving it, e.g. trailer of at videodetective.com, linked from IMDb. These trailers (QuickTime/WMP) download (around 15-40 MB) and play. They presumably play from the RAM. How does one go about saving them? Regards.

Try right-clicking on the video and selecting "Properties" and then looking for the location of the video file, then copy&paste it into the address bar. This works for me using the ActiveX media player plugin from WMP9.

Thanks. There is no 'Properties' on right-clicking. Try the the link in my first post and see if there's a way. Regards.

If you right-click somewhere other than the movie box, you can view the page source. Sometimes the url for the movie is in the page source directly. Sometimes it has a link to the actual link for the movie.

The movie link is . I found it out by methods described in your post. If you click on the link, the WMPlayer will open and display the video. WMP's File > Save as button is greyed out. How do I save (capture?) a copy? Sorry for missing what's probably obvious. Regards.
