A Newbie from Reason

Advertising

MessageAuthor

Hello all. I've just downloaded the evaluation version of Reaper after using Reason for the last 10 years or so. I've only just started playing with it but I'm already very impressed and trying to learn as much as I can from YouTube. On payday I will definitely be buying it! My main reason for changing is that I enjoy creating orchestral/film score music, (purely as a hobby at the moment), and I am finding Reason far too limiting for orchestral work. I've grabbed Kontakt and trying to learn this as well. Just thought I'd say hi. Hopefully I won't ask too many stupid questions over the next few weeks. If, (and when), I do, I'll offer my apologies now in advance. Looking forward to chatting with you all. Cheers!

Welcome Darkmode, Forum is a hepful place so fear not. I used reason alot, less so now but not sure if this is obvious, a good transition or solution generally is rewiring reaper to reason, is a good way to have the bits of reason you like with added reaper audio tweakery and kontakt etc thrown in. There are track templates around ( try a forum search) that yield a quick launch and reason fires up all routed and you are ready to go. One tip is make a note of an existing reason project tempo as its easy for reaper to change it... ;) Edit: this should still apply today

Thanks for the great welcome guys and to BenK-msx for the link. Once I've voyaged through the current learning, ReWire is my next course! The basics seem to be going OK so far :-) I've got sound!!! Cheers!

I Rewire Reason as a Reaper slave a lot. Reason has vastly superior sequencing and Reaper has vastly superior routing, so the two together are awesome. Once you get your head around it, you're going to dig it.

Looking forward to that. So you would recommend Reason as slave then. Hopefully it's not too complicated ;-) I'm still ploughing my way through Reaper and Kontakt vids. It is now starting to get a bit dull. Probably time to leave it and make some music and learn the fun way! Cheers mate.
