Actually I went through this myself and it's not clear AT ALL on iLok.com. I went through numerous emails and I finally got a response and this is how it works. When any iLok is first synchronized you get a 7 day grace period, once this grace period starts for this iLok it can be removed BUT once removed that grace period is still "active" meaning that if you synchronize that iLok to ANY account after that initial grace period it's LOCKED. I know that it does not state that when you try to synchronize your iLok it gives you the whole"you have 7 days" thing but it 's not true.Below is a direct response from iLok. Here is how the remove feature was designed: * When an iLok is synchronized, its first synchronization date is remembered in our database. We use this date to determine the end of the "remove" grace period. * When an iLok is removed from an account, it is disassociated from that account, but the iLok itself is remembered in the database. The first synchronization date is also remembered for that iLok. * If an iLok that has been removed is synchronized again (to any iLok.com account), the remaining grace period is computed from its first synchronization event. * When the grace period is over, an iLok is permanently in the account that last performed a synchronize. * It also follows that if an iLok belongs to no-one when the week runs out, then it will be permanently locked to whichever account it is synchronized to next. So for example if you synchronize a new iLok on Monday, its seven day grace period starts, and will end the following Monday. If you remove the iLok, then synchronize it on Tuesday (in any account), the remaining grace period will still be six days. The grace period follows the iLok, and is never reset once it is started.
