No "bug" perse but techniqual issue

I have never encountered this with any other DAW before. Audio Interface: MBox1 - had to switch from pro tools because my studio computer fried and this iffy CompaqCQ62 is all I have to work with (and that dinosaur of an interface haha). Using latest Reaper - with ASIO4ALL driver. Problem is: We can only hear the vocals over the monitor speakers (which never happen before, with ASIO driver installed through the MBox (atleast in my experience with Pro Tools in the past) and the instrumental only comes over the headphones, whilst it recording nothing at all really - maybe a little backgroundnoise/fuzz. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your time -AMKR

No help... ? I'm not gonna buy something that doesn't work properly, and thus far my evaluation of your product has been nothing but a pain. No offense. I've heard nothing but great things about Reaper from plenty of people, but some help with troubleshooting would be MUCH appreciated. I'm about to just get another product, I need to record. Much love -Shawn (AMKR) P.S. Didn't mean to come off a crass, just serious and to the point. :)

Sorry, but I've got no idea what's happening there. I don't know the MBox and how it distributes signal to monitor vs headphone out. Either there are separate hardware outputs for headphones vs monitor outs or you can route it in some mixer view the MBox provides. In short I am suspecting that you hear the vocals directly through the MBox (direct monitoring) and signal coming from Reaper is routed to it's headphone output only for whatever reason. If your vocal track is set to the correct input and record armed, I see no reason why nothing is recorded other than the MBox not routing the signal to that input. Really hard to say anything without knowing that MBox thing and without any info about your track settings. It could also be a matter of ASIO4All settings, I guess. Good luck.

Make sure in the ASIO4ALL config dialog that you see all in- and outputs and that all are enabled. Take a screen shot of the ASIO4ALL config dialog (in advanced mode, click the wrench) and post it here, see if we can make something out of it.
