PT9 Max I/O

MessageAuthor

What happens when you go over the maximum IO of PT9? Does it just show up to 32 IO in the settings page? Does it let you arrange, say, the first 32 channels of a larger system and leave the others grayed out? I ask because my current hardware is set up as 14 in/16 out (RME HDSPe AIO). I bought the 4 in/ 4 out expansion cards to get me to 18 in/20 out. Since 14 in/12 out PCIe base interfaces are rare I'm wondering if I can get flexible with larger system if it has mixed analog and digital IO to get the ones I need int the range of 32. Anyone out there know of a 12 I/O PCIe interface (Analog only) other than the MOTU HD192? Thanks, Brian

I have an RME RayDAT. PT9 "sees" all the I/O but can only use the first 32, so it cannot access the SPDIF and AES I/O which is channels 33-36 (no sound in or out) You cannot pick and choose which 32 ... Its the first 32 inputs ... period.

But with interfaces like the m-audio profire you can route the inputs and outputs in outside of PT to make any inputs be part of the first 32. ( I realize profire is 2626 but it was an example. ) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I see, that's kind of what I expected.. and feared. WinTaper, I guess there's no work around in Total Mix? Thanks for the input, fellas

RE: PT9 Max I/O

That;'s what I was thinking. I had a post a week or so back about my SPdif IO always being "In Use" even without it being assign anywhere. It turned out that because my AIO has 2 more outs than ins, and because they are very early in the sequence, that setting an output path also tied up the 2 following inputs in the sequence in error. I use the AES outs for my mains and that was locking up the SPdif. As a work around I moved the IO routing in Total mix for the headphones down to the last two channels. PT has no idea about the change in order but now they line up. My hope is that if I get another card I can do the same thing to bring the Main Analog and the Adat up in the chain - or something like that - and push the AES and SPdif down out of range. IT would be nice to hear from someone using 2 RME cards...
