When I copy and paste Midi notes with the Grabber to another track, some of the position numbers are off from the originals. Wazup with this crazy thang?

Start/end times/position of midi notes. (Event Edit Area/Location Indicators) Some are slightly off after I paste them onto another track in same time slot. I'm using the Grabber to copy and Selector to paste. It's fine when I use the Selector to copy and paste but I need to use the Grabber for the individual Midi hits

What Edit Mode are you using? Assuming your MIDI data has been quantized, using Grid Mode will allow you to paste MIDI notes to another track at the same location. Brent

I play/enter my drum data in real time with Slip mode so it's got real feel type numbers. I never quantize. I tried pasting in both Grid and Slip mode. I use Slip mode because I have real feel data thats not locked to a click. The pasted data numbers are slightly different from the copied data.

Why don't you try this: make sure you are in slip mode Highlight the group of notes with the selector tool. Cut them out of the region Ctrl+E. Hold down alt and RIGHT click and drag them to the different track. (you may need to select the region first, as protools sometimes makes the region jump to a different time if you just right click and drag.) If you want, you can then select the area where you originally cut the moved notes and hit Ctrl+H to "heal" the seperated region. Right clicking allows you to maintain the horizontal position (timeline), while moving the region Verticly (to alternate tracks). hope this helps, BCBud

Oops! I thought I could put the Selector tool right on the bar and then paste. I see that I have to put the Selector tool in the position of the first note of the copied notes, and then paste. Ok, nevermind... Thanks Digi Admin. # 7660 and BCBud
