Registering the Software - Painful!

MessageAuthor

Is anyone else having (or did anyone else already have) a horrific time trying to register and authorize Pro Tools and the additional software which came with Mbox? My biggest headache is the IK Multimedia stuff - Amplitube, etc. I install it, but I never get this popup with the Digital ID that they say I need to complete the registration. Registering Pro Tools has also become a problem - getting the iLok info. I registered at the iLok site last night, had to wait until this morning to get the verification email, clicked the link and got admonished for not using Internet Explorer (Firefox fan here). So I started up IE, and the email link decided to render itself invalid. Y'know, it's this sort of thing that discourages people from taking the legal route when it comes to buying software. The inability to do immediate online registration and authorization is an overwhelming pain and a waste of almost three hours of my life (so far). Thanks for letting me vent. I'm still not registered and I still haven't heard from Digidesign, iLok or IK on any of this, so I'm just a shade past being a little cranky.

Pro Tools itself doesn't require an iLok.. it's a simple serial number found in your Getting Started manual. Which plug-ins are you trying to use with an iLok.. since you normally get at least a 10 day trial period waiting 1 day for your iLok email shouldn't be an issue. As for IK, well I've heard plenty of stories about getting their software registered.. but that has nothing to do with Digidesign... take it up with them. Rail

Thanks for that heads-up! (I wish I could change yours too, since you're now using the bad words in your message quoting me!) But convolution is what this thread's about...

Oy. Authorizing Pro Tools wasn't my problem. (RTFMessage!) REGISTERING Pro Tools and getting the iLok info (required for registering) was tough because I couldn't get email verification of joining the iLok website to...oh, forget it. Authorizing the add-on software which came with Mbox was the problem. Communication breakdown. Sorry if I didn't make that abundantly clear. Sheesh. I hate being yelled at for something I didn't do.
