Try 16 bit color. Takes some strain off of the busses. Might work, might not. For me, ultimately I had to pick up an oxford 911 chipset firewire enclosure and hard drive and now it works like a charm 95% of the time. Big J

I would also go into the CMOS setup and disable all the devices that might be using any resources, especially the 1394 firewire port you are not using, if you haven't done so already. A question, does this happen on every session you do, or is it just happening on one session?
Yeah I disabled all ports/interfaces that i am not using. Even the extra iEEE firewire port on the SoundBlaster card. I just did a whole performance adjustment for XP with tips from blackviper.com and now my computer really flies but I still can't playback my files. I have had it go thru spurts as well where it played for 50+ minutes and never errored out but then I open the same file again and it errors out within 5 seconds. This is why I was led to thinking that it was processes messing up things, but now I only have the essential processes running and it still errors out. I am wondering now if it is just the Nforce2 chipset...does anyone out there have an Nforce2 based pro tools system? It shouldn't be the firewire card, I went out of my way to purchase the one card that Digi said was "digi approved". Any other ideas....once i figure this out i will update everyone on my findings... thanks for the assistance.. dave
Alright, finally I have figured out the mystery of the Pro Tools LE 6.4(PTLE6.4) -9093 and -6085 errors on Windows XP, with the DFI LanParty Ultra II rev.b motherboard. I found that when I disabled the secondary IDE in the bios with the Samsung DVD-ROM UDMA 33 : IDE 2 Master that PTLE6.4 ran with no errors at all at 128 samples. If I just disabled the drive within XP it PTLE6.4 would still error out. The -9093 and -6085 errors are related to disk access. Having the DVD-ROM run at a lower UDMA33 seemed to quirk out the interrupts in PTLE6.4. I thought it could be the cable. So I replaced it with a new cable and it still errors out. It might be the DVD-ROM drive. When I unplugged it and had nothing on the secondary channel, PTLE6.4 worked fine. I haven't switched it out yet, since i have played dvds fine with no issues, even with my Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS. I think this could be a bios or driver programming issue. I did attach a USB2.0 CDR/CDRW drive and have it run with the secondary IDE disabled. This works like a champ. Thanks for all the ideas, I was glad my brain finally decided to process the information since I couldn't sleep. Hope this helps anyone else that comes along this problem. I had a problem with a DVD drive I had. I'd get buffer errors all the time with it. When I finally unplugged it in desperation the problems went away. The drive didn't always read correctly so I just took it out. I have a cd burner on the channel though and it work fine. (I did try it with just the dvd/trying it as master/slave etc and it made no difference) I can't remember what kind of dvd drive I had.
