Well, with perfect timing, here is a story I can share regarding this: Some time ago I have been contacted by a preset designer who offered to make presets for Rhino. He obviously has experience, nice references, has presets in several well-known vsti's out there... so we worked the details out, I gave him an NFR and we agreed on a price I would pay per preset. Yesterday he sent me a bank of 64 presets. These are a complete disappointment. Most are obvious rip-offs from the factory presets, where he simply changed the osc waveforms. How he thought I (and users) wouldn't notice is beyond comprehension. But he tried it. So, agreed, a lot of the things we do are based on things we've seen, heard, and experienced before. But still, I think I will add some kind of preset watermarking to Rhino, and to my future synths.
