Cruise Control Fitment

Hi Finally found someone to fit the cruise control kit to my 740. This is one i bought from USA. Now he knows what hes doing, so theres no problem there, he says it will fit no problem, BUT hes rang me, and said I need a bracket, and something to do with the fuel injection system, and that i need to get this bracket. I know its vague, and im going to ring him later on when im less busy, and hes at home, but does anyone know what bracket i might need? Something to do with attaching to the fuel system? Any clues?

Engine specific parts: Cruise actuator bracket throttle pulley Throttle pulley bracket The throttle pulley for a cruise system has an extra pulley attached to it. Because it has an extra pulley, it needs a longer pivot. The pivot is integral to the pulley mount.

Right, the problem is the bracket that attaches the vacuum servo to the throttle body. The bracket is the wrong one. This cruise kit was taken off a B230F / FT car, and mine is a B230E. Would it be ok to source these parts off an E engine? Would they fit then? I'll take some pictures tomorrow. Im just off to work now :(

Hi James, There is a bracket attached to the servo which bolts on 2 holes on the inlet manifold. If you attach the new throttle bobbin and then attach the short cable from the servo to the bobbin, you should see the holes on the bracket line up with the manifold as long as the servo to bobbin cable is angled down by 30 degrees from the horizontal aft of the bobbin. At first it will seem that the servo has nowhere to attach. The servo will end up quite close to the idle switch. Do not forget to rig the throttle link rod or idle may be too high on start up. ivor940

James, I think you'll be extremely lucky to find an E engine with cruise.... Source the bracket from a dealer, or make one. DLM48 - yes you can fit cruise, I don't know if your car is pre-wired for it though.

Would it be possible to order the bits from a main dealer if i gave them the VIN number of the car? Would they know what bits I need? Or can i get the part numbers from somewhere? I get the feeling Stratstone Volvo wouldn't know much about a 1989 740 cruise control system!
