I am using a Pinnacle Studio DV/AV capture card. I capped some VHS stuff through the S-video inputs to DV-AVI format (the only thing the Pinnacle will cap to), edited the parts I wanted in Pinnacle Studio 7. I tried output from the edits into DV-AVI, PicVideo and MPEG2. Files are stored on a RAID 160Gb 2 drive partition. In all of these formats when I tried to re-encode in CCE I can do a short (2-5 min) clip OK but when I try to do the entire file (about 1 hour) it goes about half way through then gives this error. cce encoding fialed: AVI StreamRead() failed (0x8004406d) A disk error occurred while reading the file To see if the error was caused by a drive problem I transfered the files from the RAID to another drive and tried to encode from there but got the same error. Any ideas?
Did you already successfully encode with CCE ? I ask you that because I never managed to encode anything with CCE 2.50 (I always get fancy error messages). I suppose it's because I have a Duron which doesn't support SSE instructions. So if you have a Duron this might be the reason. But it's only a supposition. Djidjo

I have run into the same problem, but here is where it gets strange. I can xfer dv from my sony cam via firewire, compose and edit with studio 7, export it to an avi and cce will work fine (longest video tried was 1 hour 10 minutes). BUT if i capture with studio 7 then output it to avi (using same settings as above) cce will give me the same error as mrsam - cce encoding fialed: AVI StreamRead() failed (0x8004406d I can capture with virtualdub and encode with cce no problem. I can even import the avi clip into Studio 7, edit, compose and output it to an avi file and cce works fine. So the problem as I see it is that Studio 7's capture dv codec is somehow incompatible with cce. (when it is beyond a certain length) because all other options work fine. I know this don't help much, just wanted you to know that you are not alone in your misery. Mac
Mac Are you using Pinnacle hardware to capture with? I haven't been able to get anything except Studio 7 to recognize my card. How are you getting VirtualDub to cap from yur car? I'd be morethan happy to usr VirtD to capture with if I can get it to see my card.

Pinnacle DC 10+ and Studio 7/8 has caused my hair gone grey, all the odd capture presets (for example720*540), the lousy quality of the Studio 7 encoders, the pain in trying to input Pinnacle encoded AVI's to other encoders (CCE,LSX,TMPGEnc)was driving me nuts. But there is a solution! Install Pic Video's MJPEG codec and at least DC 10+ will recognize it. Good luck! Justus
