Amateur hour acoustic treatment

Here is a picture of Ace musicbod Butch Vigs' bedroom studio and here is a picture of super duper Mastering Engineer Paul Golds room.. I particularly like that his speakers are on bins full of sand,Thats a great idea. I'd be concerned about first reflections off his painted floorboards though, And them rolls of insulation have got to be a health hazard. Anybody else got any pictures of top class musos with substandard treatments?

When I sneeze, my acoustic guitar says "gesundheit." I see that in a lot of pictures.

you have a great gear there..how much did it cost you.

I think this shows that acoustic treatment is not holy grail as some folks think.... (flame suit on & runs for cover) :cool:

Also of note, Butch Vigs POD bean right in the middle of his desk. I mean, we all know amp modellers suck ass and a pro would never use one, right? RIGHT?

Who's to say they're substandard? you can't tell what's installed/going on at the backs of the rooms or how big they are -that is the most significant factor once the mirror points are sorted. You need some live-ness or you'll go overboard with reverbs, and there's worse than wooden floor when everthing else is absorbent. Butch vig probably has a 12'x8' rear-wall portal to some point in space eight light-years from anything -interstellar space, the best bass-trap you can get... :D >

Apparentaly those speakers Paul Gold has are worth 20 grand!

Yeah, I also like the Neumann lathe he has for cutting. Long live vinyl.
