Set Record Input # for Channels automatically?

Hey, maybe I'm missing something, can't figure it out, or it doesnt exist yet. When I'm recording with my SL1642 I usually add several tracks (lets say 16) which can be NAMED automatically (a1,a2,a3...) but I then have to set the record input manually...either in the track or via the routing matrix. Is there some way I can automate this (Track 1=INput 1, Track 2=Input 2 and so on) ?!

Track templates. Go and set up your desired amount of tracks, then select them and save as a track template. I have a whole bunch set up for guitar bus, drum bus, bass etc. Each with FX already setup on them and the correct input for recording. I can be up and ready to record in about 30 seconds thanks to this. Also check out input aliasing; this allows you to give friendly names to your inputs. e.g. instead of Input 1, input 2 etc... it could be Shure SM57, Bullet mic, Guitar 1 etc...

Thanks people! I finally get what track templates are for. I used to save projects with set up recording tracks, I guess this is basically the same. Good to know! I need to check out reaconsole to see if this works for audio tracks as well. Thanks again!
