i have a 940 2.0 turbo been having intermitant problems for a while. First it started to suddenly loose power while driving along. It would idle but when you put your foot down it just tried to pick up then whould drop back to idle. Now I think I had that problem solved by getting the fuel pump relay changed. All went well for a few weeks then yesterday while pulling up a hill to my house I lost all power from the engine and it wouldnt idle I had a terrible job reversing it back into my driveway. Had a look today and the fuel pump relay seems fine no cracked joints and it seems to power up ok. While checking I started the engine about 5 times it would run badly with throttle and die if let to idle. After 5 attempts the battery went flat. I found I had a loose alternator belt tightened it up and charged the battery for an hour the car started and idled with no apparent problems. Now is the bit I need advice on would a loose alternator belt and a slowly discharging battery give the symptoms I have been having ? The wife said it had been cranking over very slow for the past couple of weeks and has been sqeeling on cold mornings too.
