Total light failure

MessageAuthor

As I was returning home on Friday as the light was failing I realised that i had no dash lights and no dip lights were showing on the road. I pulled over and checked round the car - no lights were working, tail side and headlamps all out. The only thing still illuminating the car were the led marker lights which are run off a seperate ignition circuit. I mad it home use the flasher to hold main beam on, killing them as I met other cars. Fortunately it wasn't quite dark. Today I investigated. i had previously had problems with headlamp connectors burning out so this was the first place to look. The nearside lamp had the earth terminal burnt away I cut one off a scrap car and fitted this on and also ran an extra earth cable straight back to the battery Thought this had cured it but no. Next place to investigate was the relay located under the dash on the passenger side. On examination there was a burnt connection here too Cut awat the burnt area and fitted a new connector Problem solved. Mike

It's on standard bulbs - possibly slightly loose connector possibly some corrosion. I have had this sort of problem on other 240 Mike
