All PGC's on the same VTS, must have the same aspect ratio ( we can't mix 4:3 and 16:9), and the audio's must have the same bitrate. Try to create a VTS for every Title.
Your problem is the sub assignments. I assume that your video is 16:9 or 4:3 pan-scan. If it is the former then there should be 4 streams in the track. 1 for english wide, 1 for english letter, 1 for chinese wide, 1 for chinese letter. The same if 4:3PS but the streams are wide and pan. (unless you have the subpicture display set to wide & letter / wide & pan) Next problem is that sub2 is different in title2&3 to title 1. All substreams must be identical across all PGCs/titles in each VTS. To fix: You need to make 3 subs for each track. Set stream1 to be english wide, stream2 to be english letter(or only 1 stream set to display wide/letter). Stream2 to be chinese, stream3 to be japanese (with the stream display modes the same as stream1) You will need to create a dummy sub that can be used for the dummy streams This will give three tracks each with either 3 or 6 substreams. Track Result: Stream#1 english wide -> or it will be combined as wide / letter Stream#2 english letter -> not needed if as above (wide/letter) stream#3 chinese wide -> as above stream#4 chinese letter stream#5 japanese wide -> as above stream#6 japanese letter your scenario: vts1 ----title1 ---------english ---------chinese ---------japanese -> this is a dummy stream ----title2 ---------english ---------chinese -> this is a dummy stream ---------japanese ----title3 ---------english ---------chinese -> this is a dummy stream ---------japanese How are you selecting the substream? is there a menu or will it be by changing the substream on the remote? Audio streams follow the same principle - each stream must match across all the tracks in each pgc/title of the VTS. so stream1 could be 5.1, stream2 dts, stream3 2.0. just create a dummy audio clip with besplit that can be used in the dummy audio track. Hope that helps
thanks a lot, Zeul, thats all i wanna ask. thx for your fast reply. by the way, my dvdiso is just a r2 anime dvd, so there is no subtitle menu...:) Actually before you answered my question, i have thought of... can i just compile the dvd with all pgc have chinese and english sub, and then I change the pgc2 and 3 subtitle attribute by ifoedit, in order to solve the problem?
I find that if you have more than one title in a VTS some DVD's players will allow you to skip into the the next Title by using the skip forwards button. I fix this by using a dummy PGC or disabling the UOP but sometimes it can all get a little bit messy. Is using one VTS still the best way to author titles in general though because you don't get so much lag time from a professional authors point of view? I realise each project merits its own solutions. I also find, and sorry this isn't directly related to this thread, that on certain DVD players that if you press the skip next button quickly you can jump through all the VTS's & titles on the whole DVD which I hate. Is there anyway to fix this? I've noticed it on studio DVD's too so have kind of accepted it.
It's funny no one suggested the "right" way according to the specs. It is neither put all the titles in one VTS or put each in its own, but to group titles together with identical audio and subpicture attributes. In this case title 1 would be in one VTS, while titles 2 and 3 together in another. No dummy streams, and no conflicts.
@ mpucoder Yeah, it's amazing that people try to use a workaround for a situation which actually doesn't need one. That's the creative DVD Author. :p @ Cheesus Yes, some DVD Players will do a jump to the next Title if they can't find another Program within the current PGC or to the next VTS if there's no more Title in the current. To ommit this you have two possibilities: 1.) Create a dummy track and put it into each PGC as the last program. I normally use a slide show with one black picture and 13 frames duration (the minimum) for this purpose. or 2.) Go to the last scene of each video and disable the Next Program Search in the Scene UOPs. If you can't find it, it's in the Scene properties window.
