Good Moring, I got a a question about Mono and stereo....Shouldn't any instument that I plug in to the 002 normally be stereo? When I create a new stereo track for guitar, only one meter registers the audio, just the left meter, and its panned to the center, same thing with Microphones, and headphone mixes, my singer can only hear the mix out of one side of the headphones...what am I doing wrong? Thanks Herb

RE: HEADPHONE MIX help

well, I suppose all the inputs are mono....if you want a guitar in stereo you have to plug it into two inputs, say 3/4 and, when creating a stereotrack, assign the track to those inputs.... Or am I missing something..? ///Go

Thats correct.. Each input on the 002 is a mono input. When you create a stereo track it assigns two seperate inputs to the track. (1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8).

You could also create another track and use the same input for both tracks. Chuck

RE: HEADPHONE MIX help

I think it may help to understand what is meant by "stereo". Stereo is not the same signal coming from both speakers. More correctly that would be dual mono. Are you just trying to hear the guitar track from both speakers? Or are you trying to create a stereo guitar track? If you just want to hear the guitar in both speakers, you need to convert this track to mono and pan to the center. This will give you that exact same sound in each speaker. If you are trying to create a stereo guitar part you need to first, understand that stereo is two separate sounds from each speaker. This is important to recognize. True stereo cannot come from one track of guitar. Then, do one of the following: 1. create a new track and drag-in the existing guitar region. pan one left, one right. (add a little delay to one to give you a sense of separation); 2. re-record the same guitar part to a new track. the nuances is performance will create very good stereo imaging; or 3. add a plug-in to the original mono track that creates an output stereo effect (like one of the waves chorus effects). My favorite, but it really depends on the song, the part, etc., is to record to separate takes and pan one left and one right (option 2 from above). I hope that gets you started, -Jay
