XP 64 or Windows 7?

Advertising

MessageAuthor

I've got Vista running on a 64 bit machine and I've just installed a EMU 1616M card... Unfortunately since I've installed this card a lot of things are going wrong with my computer including most importantly my 32 bit version of Reaper will not start (I've reinstalled it multiple times) --- Yes the 64 bit version works but few of my plugins work with that so it's not really an option. Anyway I'm considering trying XP 64 bit or Windows 7 64 bit on my computer (maybe set it up as a dual boot machine) to see if that somehow fixes my problem (my wireless internet also stopped working...) Any suggestions? Can XP 64 see all of my 8 GB of RAM? Would Windows 7 cause more problems than it would fix? Should I try something else entirely?

I've heard a lot of great things about Win 7... I'll definitely consider your suggestion. It seems like it's worth a shot anyway Vista has been driving me insane since I first started using it... I'm actually already downloading it Win 7 and should have it by tomorrow. Now I have to figure out how to set up my computer as a dual boot machine. I have done it before with another computer so I'm not a total "newbie" on that.

A little update on this situation: I installed Windows 7 and so far... It's awesome. It seems to be fixing all of my problems. It is very early in the process so I'm trying to be cautious about my optimism but I'm *really* impressed so far.

A lot of folks are raving about 7, but M$ still has time to ruin it....

I'm getting more and more excited - everything seems to be working with Windows 7 - and everything is running faster and smoother... It's hard to believe it's Windows.
