RE: The Steps

bob, you're posting wav files, man. They take longer to download than they do to listen to. Not that there's anything wrong with that. You know, it's just... 320kbps mp3's are okay enough sounding for general mix critique.

RE: The Steps

bob, I waited for this to download in the background, and I'm glad I did. This is pretty awesome. I sort of involuntarily closed my eyes near the start of the song and let it guide me. It's really quite epic. I enjoyed how the infectious drum beat tied it all together and provided a solid grounding for everything going on around it. It let my mind wander to different spaces while my feet stayed on the ground. Loved the texture and the playing on the various guitar parts. What a mind you have to compose this and present it so effectively. Around 4:30, I must admit that I didn't like where the intensity of the noodly guitar and the drum rolls started taking me, but it was a minor distraction in an otherwise perfect piece (for me). Nicely done.

RE: The Steps

Just listened with head back eyes closed. Loved the development. I dunno if I am listening with diffrnt ears or if you added stuff to integrate the whole, but it does seem more fluent, moving, unified. I sense a lot of dynamics added on the bottom, and maybe some slow crescendos underneath. Great theme, and it was not lost to the mind by the guitar's freedom, maybe because the bass carried it through. You are great. The piece is great.

RE: The Steps

Hey yall when I connect to pieces in dropbox, all I can see is a non-informative quicktime progress bar with NO indication of current time. Is there a way to view it to see a time? Bob, I am liking the clean center-panned gtr towards the end more than I liked the muddy and split gtr in the middle part. But the whole piece has steady development and ear-friendly mix. THANKS.
