??? using Independence with Reaper

MessageAuthor

Hi, I watched a tutorial about using Magix Independence with Reaper and I could use it for a while, and then it quit working. In Reaper if I open Options - Preferences - VST the path "C:\Program Files\MAGIX\Independence\Independence.exe" is in the window. Then I make a new track and click FX - VSTi. The option to Independence used to be at the top of the list, but now it's not there at all. Can anyone tell me how to get it back, and/or why it would have "vanished" to begin with? Also the Independence program told me I needed to register several times and gave a countdown of days I had left, but now it stopped doing that. Could that have anything to do with it? So far I can still open the program, just not with Reaper the way it was working before. One person who was trying things with it opened Options - Preferences - VST and selected Auto-detect, and that cleared the window and that's when it quit working. Since then I've added the path back and it's there every time I open the VST plug-ins settings window, but it's still not an option from the FX button in a new track. Also when Independence is opened it shows the message "no audo driver available!". Can anyone suggest what should be done about that? Sorry...I don't understand any of this yet. Thanks for any help! David

In the same place that you inputted the info the first time, navigate to where the dll is. Just the folder where independence has the dll. If you installed to defaults, I am guessing somewhere like "Program Files/Steinberg/VST" or something like that. It won't be in the Independence Program files though. And yes, it sounds like you have the legit free version. I only brought that up because many people have no ethical issue using cracked plugins, and it can cause strange issues that are sometimes inherent to using them, and I don't even try to solve those problems.

There again, I am not entirely sure Magix have sorted out the perennial "location of Independance`s root folder" problem..... Not aT THE STUDIO COMPUTER CURRENTLY BUT i DO SEEM TO RECALL STILL HAVING ISSUES WITH PUTTING THE ROOIT FOLDER IN THE "RIGHT " PLACE ON MY MOST RECENT INSTALL, WHICH was THE mAGIX VERSION. sORRy - stupid new laptop may have Win 8 but it DOESN`T have a capslock light and I am no touch typist

You misunderstood - I have zero issues with either YT or Magix version now but did have originally with the YT version. Just mentioned it in case it was still an issue & that it might be catching the OP out.
